November 20, 2019
10:00AM


Meeting called to order by Clerk Kathy Wilton at 10:00 am with everyone standing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Taken by Clerk Kathy Wilton as follows: Supervisor Colin Combs absent, Treasurer Linda Ronne, Clerk Kathy Wilton, Trustees Bill Bowman and Martin Holmes were present. 15 interested residents were in attendance.

Public Comment: Joel Vernier talked about the Knights of Columbus and the varios groups they gave money to for the holidays.

Correspondence: Wilton read the following: letter from our Accident Fund with refund check for Workers Comp due to no claims, letter from Spectrum stating they are adding several different channels and the charges for those channels, franchise payment fee from Charter, fire board meeting dates for 2020, holiday card from Chemical bank, planning minutes and fire board minutes received.

Minutes of October 16, 2019 regular meeting were reviewed. Motion by Holmes/Bowman to accept as presented. 4 ayes, 1 absent M/C

Treasurerís Report: Report was read by Treasurer Ronne as follows:

Motion by Wilton/Bowman to receive and file the treasurerís report. 4 ayes, 1 absent M/C Ronne presented a list of properties that needed to have the garbage and weed control changed. This list was reviewed by Wilton and Jurgensen. All board members received the completed list. Motion by Holmes/Bowman accept the special assessment adjustments as presented. 4 ayes, 1 absent M/C

Berg Assessing: Allan Berg sent a notice that he was unable to attend today's meeting.

County Commissioner Joel Vernier: Joel spoke about a variety of meetings he has attended. Bowman attended a meeting with him in Traverse City for a septic summit, the county is looking at a countywide inspection program.

Committee Reports:

Planning Committee: Jim Carroll reported the public hearing on ordinance changes on Saturday, November 2 was not held due to lack of quorum. They have rescheduled for December 14th. The committee will also discuss a new website.

Fire Board: Chairman Marty Holmes reported there were 11 runs last month: 6 medical, 1 mutual, 3 fire and 1 mutual fire. The fire run bill has been paid. They are looking at options for the truck repair.

Fire Chief: Chief Fred Shaver reported burn permits are needed and available on line and reminded everyone that there is no burning in ditches. Shaver will starting an Explorer program in December to get younger people interested in the fire department. The ISO inspection went well. He is looking at options for the truck that needs pump repaired.

Constable: Hart turned in her paperwork and stated all was well. Hart also turned in her report for September but sent a letter stating she was not able to do July inspection due to a fractured back. She returned pay check for that month.

Road Committee: no report

Zoning Administrator: Sabourin stated it's been the busiest month so far. She has done 51 permits so far this year. Lots of pole barns and garages with a few new homes being built.

Ordinance Officer: none

Well and Septic report: Bill Bowman reported: The health department is doing inspections. Our ordinance is sound and it is the responsibility of the seller and/or buyer to bring well and septic into compliance. The meeting in Traverse City was good.

Other Business:

Council of Local Government: The Harvest potluck dinner was at Butman October 28th. General business discussed.

4 Lakes Task Force: no report

Secord Lake Property Owners Association: no report

Wilton wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and reminded them of the Christmas potluck that will immediately follow our meeting on December 18th. Everyone is encouraged to come and join us for lunch.
